Internal Security Forces - Aleppo: tank, vehicles destroyed belonging to Interim Govt.'s mercenaries

The Media Center of the Internal Security Forces in Aleppo issued a statement today announcing the destruction of a tank belonging to the Interim Government's mercenaries. The statement read:

"Our forces, in a heroic and decisive stand, repelled a large-scale attack launched by factions and militants of the Damascus government on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo. They inflicted heavy losses on the attackers in terms of lives and equipment, and thwarted a military plan aimed at forcibly storming the residential areas.

At dawn today, after three consecutive days of intense shelling with tanks, Grad rockets, and other heavy weapons, these factions escalated their aggression with a brutal and indiscriminate bombardment targeting all areas of the two neighborhoods and their surroundings, in an attempt to terrorize the civilian population and forcibly displace them.

Following this bombardment, the attacking factions attempted to advance." On the ground, with more than sixty tanks and armored vehicles, dozens of military vehicles, and thousands of armed men, supported directly by drones and under heavy fire cover.

However, this attack was met with heroic and organized resistance from our forces, particularly on the Ashrafieh, Castello, and Jubanat axes, where the attackers were repelled and forced to retreat. A tank and five military vehicles were destroyed, seven suicide drones were shot down, and dozens of enemy fighters were killed, forcing them to flee and abandon their positions on the front lines, resorting once again to indiscriminate and brutal shelling.

This heroic stand confirms the readiness of our forces and their determination to protect civilians and defend residential areas against a barbaric aggression that has no military or legal justification.

Therefore, we hold the Damascus government and all its affiliated entities fully responsible for this brutal attack and its repercussions, and we affirm our legitimate right to defend our people and our neighborhoods by all legitimate means.
