The General Command of the Internal Security Forces – North and East Syria issued a statement today, detailing the circumstances of the martyrdom of one of its members during a raid on a hideout used by drug dealers and traffickers in Kobani.

The statement read:

"On Sunday, November 2, the Anti-Narcotics Unit carried out a raid on one of the hideouts used by drug dealers and traffickers in the city of Kobani, as part of ongoing efforts to combat this scourge that threatens the security and stability of society.

During the operation, an unintended field-coordination error occurred between the units participating in the mission, resulting in a severe injury to one of our members, comrade Sherko. He was transferred to the hospital, where he was martyred due to his wounds.

A comprehensive and precise investigation was immediately launched to examine all details of the incident and determine responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, ensuring that such mistakes are not repeated in the future.

The General Command of the Internal Security Forces extends its deepest condolences to the family of the martyr, comrade Sherko, and to his comrades. At the same time, we call on all residents to exercise restraint, avoid emotional reactions or individual acts, and refrain from harming any party.

We affirm that our forces are fully aware of the details of the incident and are following its developments. Anyone found negligent will be held accountable according to the laws and regulations in force.

Maintaining security and stability is a collective responsibility. We renew our call for everyone to remain calm and await the results of the investigations, in loyalty to the martyr’s blood and in protection of society’s security."
