Internal Forces: Our forces only respond to fire source in Aleppo

The Internal Security Forces – Aleppo issued a statement to the public at dawn today regarding the recent events and military escalation in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.

The statement read: “The Internal Security Forces in Aleppo, through the General Commander of the Internal Security Forces, Akheen Nujan, confirm that the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh have been subjected to a suffocating siege for nearly four months by factions affiliated with the Interim Ministry of Defense, particularly those supported by Turkey.”

The forces explained: “This siege has coincided with ongoing provocative actions by those factions aimed at dragging us into a military escalation, which poses a direct threat to security and stability in the area. These actions come in an attempt to violate the truce signed between the Internal Security Forces and the Syrian Interim Government, at a time when our forces remain committed to enhancing stability and peace.”

The Internal Security Forces in Aleppo categorically refuted all accusations leveled against them regarding responsibility for the outbreak of the recent clashes, stating: “Our forces only responded to the sources of fire they were subjected to, within the framework of legitimate self-defense. Despite our continuous efforts to calm the situation and avoid escalation, hostile factions launched a large-scale attack from four axes in the vicinity of the aforementioned neighborhoods, leading to an escalation of the security situation.”

The statement emphasized that the Internal Security Forces in Aleppo remain fully committed to the truce and affirmed their complete readiness to respond to any threats targeting the security of the area and the safety of civilians. It added: “We continue to work to maintain stability and constantly seek peaceful solutions through dialogue and understanding with all concerned parties.”

Factions affiliated with the transitional government launched an attack on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in the city of Aleppo yesterday, Monday. As a result of the attacks, a woman was martyred and 17 civilians were injured, in addition to injuries sustained by six members of the Internal Security Forces.

To protect civilians and the two neighborhoods, the Internal Security Forces – Aleppo responded to the attacks and managed to thwart most of them in the vicinity of the neighborhoods.
