KOBANI

The rural areas of Kobani witnessed large-scale acts of looting and vandalism carried out by factions linked to the Interim Government in Syria. ANHA agency obtained photos and shocking footage from residents of Bir Nasser village, documenting the violations committed by those factions before their withdrawal from the area.

The footage shows the factions filling in artesian wells that were the main source of drinking water for the villagers, in addition to stealing electrical cables and water pumps used for extracting water. They also cut the poles and wires that supplied electricity to civilian homes, and looted and destroyed the village’s poultry farms.

The scenes also reveal clear signs of vandalism inside houses, where doors and windows were stolen. The home of citizen Haji Meso was blown up, while the house of the family of the martyr Bahoz was rigged with explosives and detonated, according to testimonies from residents.

These violations reportedly took place shortly before the withdrawal of the factions from 74 villages in the southern and eastern countryside of Kobani, in accordance with the agreement signed on January 29 between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Interim Government.
