Interim Govt. closes Tabqa – Athriya road

The Interim Government in Syria closed the road linking the North and East Syria Region with the Syrian interior regions via the town of Athriya in the Hama countryside, and stopped traffic in both sides.

Forces loyal to the Syrian Interim Government, stationed at al-Zakia intersection checkpoint near the town of Athriya, have blocked traffic on the Tabqa-Athriya road, effectively closing the crossing between areas of North and East Syria and the Syrian interior.

Traffic on the Deir Hafer – Aleppo road has also been halted since Wednesday evening due to attacks launched by the Syrian Interim Government's mercenaries on the city of Deir Hafer, using mortars and drones.

According to bus drivers prevented by the Syrian Interim Government Forces from continuing their way from North and East Syria towards the Syrian interior, these forces stopped traffic in both directions at 2:00 PM without providing any justification.

This closure coincides with fierce attacks launched by Syrian Interim Government mercenaries on the Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyeh, and Bani Zeid neighborhoods of Aleppo city, as well as on the city of Deir Hafer in the western countryside of Tabqa canton.
