Injured in bombing of Ashma village: Turkish occupation state must be held accountable

Yesterday evening, Turkish occupation warplanes targeted a civilian home in the village of Ashma, west of the city of Kobani, wounding 10 people from one family, including 7 children. 

The injured are: Youssef Jamal Darwish (4 years old), Sherin Suleiman Ismail (5 years old), Avin Suleiman Ismail (2 years old), Muhammad Jamal Darwish (8 years old), Ghazala Jamal Darwish (2 years old), Haifa Suleiman Ismail (35 years old). Sabah Suleiman Ismail (26 years old), Amina Jamal Darwish (13 years old), Arin Jamal Darwish (1 year old), and Ahmed Ibrahim Darwish (46 years old).

Haifa Ismail suffered hand and foot injuries, and is currently receiving treatment at Kobani Hospital.

Speaking about the bombing, Haifa explained that the Turkish occupation warplanes directly targeted their house while they were inside it, and she continued, saying: “We were 17 people inside the house, and suddenly the house collapsed on our heads, which prompted the village residents to pull us out from under the rubble.”

Haifa Ismail confirmed that all those who were in the house were from her family, asking: “What does the Turkish occupation state want from civilians? We were inside our house, why is the Turkish state targeting our homes? This is not the first time it has targeted civilians.”

Haifa Ismail called on human rights organizations and bodies concerned with human rights not to remain silent regarding the crimes and violations of the Turkish occupation state, stressing the need to hold it accountable for these attacks and crimes.
