Ilham Ahmad, Secretary-General of Syrian National Democratic Alliance meet in Aleppo

The Secretary-General of the Syrian National Democratic Alliance, Ahmad Aaraj, received the co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration, Ilham Ahmad, yesterday, Monday, in the city of Aleppo, in a consultative meeting that addressed a number of political and national files of common interest.

According to a statement issued by the Syrian National Democratic Alliance, the two sides discussed ways to enhance national partnership, mechanisms of integration, and consensus-building among Syrian forces, in addition to examining the outcomes of the 29 January agreement and its repercussions on the Syrian political landscape.

The meeting also touched on the issue of cultural rights and the necessity of enshrining them within constitutional and legal frameworks, while stressing the importance of peaceful political action as an essential entry point for achieving stability and consolidating rights and freedoms in the country.

Both sides affirmed the importance of dialogue among the various national forces and strengthening mutual understandings in a way that contributes to supporting the path of political solution and building a state based on the principles of equal citizenship and the rule of law.

Aaraj also welcomed Ilham Ahmad's visit, considering it an important step towards enhancing communication and dialogue among Syrian political forces, and stressing the need to consolidate social cohesion and strengthen partnership among the various Syrian components within the framework of a comprehensive national project.

The meeting comes as part of the visit being conducted by Ilham Ahmad to the region, which included the city of Afrin and the neighbourhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in Aleppo.
