The United Nations in Syria stated on its official account on the platform “X” that it had held consultations on ways to support students in Sweida in taking their final exams, stressing that these discussions were based on a shared concern for students’ safety and the integrity of the examination process.

In a brief statement, the organization said: “The United Nations held consultations on ways to support students in Sweida in taking their final exams. These consultations were based on a shared concern for students’ safety and ensuring the integrity of the examination process.”

It added that the two parties — the interim government and Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri — were unable, despite these consultations, to overcome the existing challenges, noting that the government will continue to hold examinations in the Damascus countryside governorate.

It is worth noting that a United Nations delegation had met on Monday with Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, during which several issues related to the situation in Sweida province were discussed, most notably the issue of students and the mechanism for conducting final examinations.
