Hundreds stranded at Deir Ezzor River Crossings

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that hundreds of civilians are trapped at the so-called “dirt crossing” connecting the two sides of the Euphrates River in rural Deir Ezzor. Fighters of the Provisional Government are stopping and holding them indefinitely.

Dozens of families—including women, children, the elderly, and the sick—remain stranded on the riverbank, exposed to harsh weather. The crossing has effectively become an open detention point for civilians, with no basic safety or services available.

Three days ago, the Provisional Government suddenly closed all crossings linking areas inside Syria with the north and east regions, halting all civilian movement.
