HPG extended its congratulations on the 21st anniversary of the June 1st Surge, an annual occasion, through a statement published by Firat News Agency.

In the statement issued by the HPG Media Center, it said:

“We commemorate the 21st anniversary of the historic June 1st Surge, which was launched under the leadership of the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, for the Leader of all oppressed peoples, women, and youth, Leader Abdullah Ocalan; for the families of martyrs who have elevated the struggle by embracing the legacy of the martyrs; for our patriotic people and their friends; and for all our comrades. We honor, with deep love, respect, and unparalleled loyalty, the memory of martyrs such as Hussein Mahir, Erdal, Nujan Nurhak, Adil Biliki, Mahir Dersim, Kendal Baz, Nuda Karker, Rojin Gewda, Rashid Serdar, Muhammad Goyi, Dicle Afrin, Simko Rojhilat, Atakan Wahir, Delal Amed, Gulciya Gabar, Fazil Botan, and Leyla Sorxwin.”

The statement added:  “On February 15, 1999, a global conspiracy targeted our people and the Kurdish liberation movement through the person of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who is the guarantee of their freedom and future. Despite limited resources and intense attacks, our leader responded powerfully through the new model he developed. Based on this model, he created a great opportunity to develop a democratic solution in Turkey. As a result, our guerrilla forces remained under a ceasefire for five years—from the withdrawal decision on August 2, 1999, to June 1, 2004—laying the foundation for a democratic resolution to the Kurdish issue. However, the Turkish state tried to exploit this period to eliminate our movement. The June 1st Surge, initiated in 2004, became a historic response to these attempts at suppression and denial."

“The revolutionary struggle that began with the June 1st Surge revealed many hidden truths. Just as the August 15, 1984 offensive blocked Kurdish erasure and brought the issue to the negotiating table, the June 1st Surge played a key role in pushing for a solution and reinforcing its foundations. This historic surge once again proved its timing and correctness, clearly showing that the Kurdish issue cannot be resolved through policies of denial, assimilation, and genocide."

“Now, 21 years since the June 1st Surge, it has repeatedly confirmed the visionary leadership of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, the model he introduced, the strategies he implemented, and his historic stance in Imrali. Time and experience have proven the truth and sincerity of Leader Apo’s ideas. Our 52-year history of struggle has shown that when we understand and apply Leader Ocalan’s vision correctly, we achieve historic victories and important results. As the guerrilla fighters of Kurdistan, we are deeply committed to the line of Apoist sacrifice."

“With this historical awareness, now and in the future, we declare our unwavering commitment to uphold the values gained through the unmatched efforts of Leader Ocalan and the immense sacrifices of our people. We will carry out our responsibilities without hesitation. We are determined to deepen the spirit of Apoist resistance and to ensure the freedom of our Leader and our people by advancing on the path he has laid out for us with ultimate dedication.”

“As the guerrilla fighters of Kurdistan and the devoted fighters of Leader Apo, we once again commemorate the 21st anniversary of the June 1st Surge and the beginning of its 22nd year of struggle. We congratulate our people, our comrades in the field, and all our friends, wishing them victory.”
