Three children displaced from Afrin and Shahba have died in the past ten days in Raqqa Canton, in the NE Syria region, due to the severe heatwave hitting the area, amid a lack of cooling facilities in the shelter centers hosting thousands of displaced people.

According to ANHA correspondent, the victims are the twins Mohammad and Rohat Abdullah Khalil, aged one and a half months, and the child Mohammad Abdo Abdo, aged three months.

Raqqa, like most Syrian areas, is experiencing record high temperatures exceeding 48 degrees Celsius, while the displaced live in very poor conditions inside shelters lacking electricity and basic ventilation, which worsens their suffering and puts the lives of the most vulnerable groups, especially children, at risk.
