Hassan Sharo: All departments in Jazira Canton in state of mobilization

On January 18, 2026, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria declared a state of general mobilization in response to attacks by mercenaries of the Syrian Interim Government, the Turkish occupation, and ISIS mercenary cells on the region.

Regarding the general mobilization and the continuity of daily life in Jazira Canton, the Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration in Jazira Canton, Hassan Sharo, spoke to ANHA Agency.

Hassan Sharo explained that, as can be seen, the people in general—alongside their military and security forces—have been in a state of mobilization for several days in the city of Qamishlo and across Jazira Canton.

He emphasized that in addition to the general mobilization for defense, service institutions are also on alert, stating:

“All our institutions and departments in Jazira Canton have been operating around the clock, 24 hours a day, to meet the needs of residents. These service institutions are in a state of major mobilization together with the people; they are working to provide bread, water, diesel fuel, gas, and other essential needs.”

Sharo continued:

“Whether we say it or not, our society has daily living needs. Regarding the market, all residents must cooperate with one another. Alongside this mobilization and the presence of the forces, the process of securing daily necessities through the market must continue. The stance and resistance of this people will ensure victory. We are confident in our strength, and our society should also trust in its own strength. With national and patriotic spirit, freedom and democracy will be guaranteed to protect the land of Rojava.”

Sharo also spoke about the resistance and solidarity of the four parts of Kurdistan, saying: “The feelings of our people in the four parts of Kurdistan are a source of morale and victory. The morale and resistance of the people of Rojava are an example to the entire world, and our people in the other parts must always stand in support of this resistance.”

In conclusion, Hassan Sharo stated:

“The stage we are going through and the resistance of the people of Rojava are supported by the other parts of Kurdistan—Northern, Southern, and Eastern Kurdistan. Through the resistance and stance of the people of Rojava, borders have been transcended, and this is the greatest victory. With one spirit and one heart, everyone is now turning toward Rojava—the place where the enemy seeks to annihilate the existence of the people. Let our people remain confident that the victory of this people will defeat the enemy.”
