Hasakah Health Directorate completes integration of DAA’s staff

The Health Directorate in Hasakah Governorate announced the start of contracts for 1,448 healthcare workers employed under the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA), as part of efforts to complete the integration of health institutions. It said the review of remaining employees’ files is ongoing, alongside plans to develop the healthcare sector.

As part of the integration process under the January 29 agreement, the Hasakah Health Directorate is continuing to merge medical staff and health centers affiliated with the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) into the governorate’s Health Directorate.

Hasakah Health Director Dr. Khaled Al-Khaled told ANHA agency that “the integration process had begun, including files related to the Serekaniye/Ras al-Ain and Shaddadi hospitals, as well as personnel working under the DAA where a database was prepared, certificates were verified, and files were submitted to the ministry.

He added, “We received approval to contract medical personnel working under the DAA in accordance with applicable laws and the basic employee law. Three days ago, the process of signing contracts for DAA’s employees began.”

He noted that “1,448 employees have started the contracting process, while another 184 names are awaiting the correction of their certificates. These include holders of preparatory and secondary school certificates, as well as graduates of Rojava University, in addition to staff from the Serekaniye/Ras al-Ain and Shaddadi hospitals, whose contracting process will begin in the coming days.”

Al-Khaled also discussed the healthcare situation in the governorate, saying “there is a plan to modernize infrastructure and equipment through a phased approach, along with a broader plan to support all health centers and reactivate some facilities.”

He added that “some issues require attention and modernization, including the upcoming opening of the Hasakah Children’s Hospital, dialysis centers in Derbasiyah and Shaddadi, and the establishment of an oncology treatment center in the governorate.”

He concluded, “Healthcare work is extensive. We have 104 health centers and six hospitals, in addition to multiple health programs across the governorate. The ambitions are great, but current resources are limited, and significant support will be provided by the Ministry of Health.”
