Hasaka Governor Nour al-Din Ahmad met with a delegation from the Supreme Committee for People’s Council Elections to discuss mechanisms for appointing members and accelerating preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The governor received the delegation, which included presidential envoy Ziad al-Ayesh and Chairman of the Supreme Elections Committee Ahmad al-Ahmad, at the governorate building, according to the governorate’s media office.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the mechanisms and conditions for appointing members of the People’s Council. They discussed the criteria in place and the necessary procedures to ensure fair and comprehensive representation in line with the requirements of the current phase.

The two sides also agreed to form subcommittees to expedite the organization of the parliamentary elections.

Governor Ahmad stressed the importance of adopting clear and transparent standards in selecting members, in a way that strengthens the role of the legislative institution and serves citizens’ interests. Meanwhile, the delegation emphasized the need to maintain coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the process is carried out in the best possible manner.
