Gunfire in Homs following detention of al- Fawa'ra Tribe Sheikh

The city of Homs witnessed gunfire and riots by members of al-Fawa’ra tribe in protest against the arrest of one of the tribe’s leaders.

The city of Homs witnessed a state of security tension on Tuesday evening after members of al-Fawa'ra tribe fired shots into the air and carried out acts of unrest in protest against the detention of Sheikh Mamdouh al-Faddaous, one of the tribe's prominent figures.

According to available information, the detention lasted for approximately one hour before Sheikh al-Faddaous was released. His release came after tensions escalated and members of the tribe mobilized within the city.
