Guerrilla Forces conduct 63 operations against Turkish occupation in January

Today, the Press Center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) released a written statement to the public, revealing the results of the Guerrilla Forces operations against the Turkish occupation army. The statement also included statistics on the attacks carried out by the occupation against the Medya defense areas and North Kurdistan.

The statement read:

"The oppressive Turkish state and the fascist Justice and Development Party (AKP) government continued their attacks on North Kurdistan and the Medya defense areas throughout January 2025 without interruption. They launched hundreds of attacks from Dersim to Serhed, from Ghirzan to Amed, from Mardin to Botan, and from Colemêrg and Wan in North Kurdistan. However, all these attacks failed. In the Medya defense areas, in addition to occupation operations, airstrikes were launched against our people in South Kurdistan, resulting in civilian casualties. The fascist AKP government, which insists on a policy of genocide, has committed war crimes by killing civilians and using chemical and prohibited weapons against the Guerrilla Forces in full view of the entire world.

In January, the Turkish occupation state bombed war tunnels in the Medya defense areas five times with chemical weapons, nine times with explosive-laden drones, and 113 times with prohibited explosives. At the same time, resistance areas were bombed 235 times by warplanes and 59 times by attack helicopters.

Meanwhile, the Guerrilla Forces continued their struggle against these attacks without pause in North Kurdistan and the Medya defense areas. Our forces, who bravely resisted these attacks with outstanding performance, carried out 63 operations using various tactics, 13 of them were air operations and 50 were ground operations, despite the harsh winter conditions. These operations resulted in the killing of six occupation soldiers and the injury of another soldier. Additionally, numerous military vehicles, equipment, and weapons belonging to the Turkish occupation army were destroyed or damaged.

The Guerrilla fighters will confront all attacks targeting the existence and freedom of the Kurdish people with an Apoist spirit of sacrifice. From now on, as they have done until now, they will deliver the necessary response to these aggressions."
