Gabriel Chamoun calls on Syrians to confront plans to divide their country

The Deputy co-chairmanship of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Gabriel Chamoun, said, "Turkey, with these actions, always seeks to occupy lands and annex these lands to Turkish lands."

On the 25th of last January, ANHA's agency published news about the Turkish occupation state establishing new borders deep into Syrian territory.

Sources reported that the Turkish occupation state began digging trenches and building walls east of the city of Serêkaniyê/Ras al-Ain, at a depth of 15 kilometers in the occupied areas. The trench digging work is still ongoing, and it turns out that it began at the end of 2023. According to the information, the occupation plans to extend this wall from east of Serêkaniyê/Ras al-Ain all the way to west of Girê Spi/ Tal Abyed, at the same depth.

The sources also indicated that the occupation is planning to build a similar wall in the areas of Jarabulus, al-Bab, Azaz, and Afrin, but its depth has not been revealed.

Chamoun added, "This is a principle that has been followed since the end of the Ottoman Sultanate, and to this day, Syrian lands are being violated by the Turkish occupation state."

He criticized the silence of the Damascus Government, "especially regarding the Turkish violations of Syrian lands and the process of demographic change that Turkey is carrying out on Syrian lands."

The Deputy co-chairmanship of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration called on “all Syrian parties to stand up to these violations and these policies and to be aware of the policy of the Turkish occupation state in annexing more Syrian lands.”
