From Kobani march: Our language is our red line

On the occasion of Kurdish Language Day, which falls on May 15th each year, thousands marched in Kobani under the slogan "Our language is our identity, and identity never dies." In addition, hundreds of students and teachers participated in the march.

The march began at Free Woman Square in Kobani and proceeded to the Martyr Agid Square. After holding a minute of silence, the co-president of Kobani University, Shervan Muslim, addressed the crowd.

On the occasion of Kurdish Language Day, Shervan Muslim extended greetings to the Kurdish people and recalled the martyr Viyan Amara and all those who struggled for freedom, saying, "We have struggled for our language for years until we reached this moment. Therefore, no one will be able to destroy our language. Our language is our existence, our identity, and our honor. We will protect our language and will not allow anyone to take away our rights and our language."

Shervan Muslim pointed out that before the Rojava Revolution, the right to education in the Kurdish language was prohibited, adding, "The enemy always seeks to destroy our language and alienate us from it, but thanks to the sacrifices of the martyrs, we have reached this point. Our language is our red line, and we will not allow anyone to separate us from it. We will promote its status. The Kurdish language is guaranteed in the world, and it must also be guaranteed in the Syrian constitution."

The march concluded with chants of "Our language is our identity."
