The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the deaths of four Alawite civilians in transitional government prisons in Syria, following their arrest earlier this year from the village of Qanaya, in the Qabo neighborhood of the Homs countryside.

In detail, a photo recorded at the forensic hospital revealed the death of one of the four detainees the day before yesterday. It was later revealed that the other three had met the same fate. They were buried earlier in the Nasr Cemetery. The victims included two university students.

According to SOHR sources, the arrests date back approximately seven months. Security forces carried out arrest campaigns in the village of Qanaya last January, following angry protests that erupted in several areas across Syria, including al-Qabu, following the spread of a video showing an attack on the Alawite shrine of Abu Abdullah al-Hussein al-Khasibi in Aleppo.

This brings the number of torture victims in the prisons of the transitional government to 55, most of whom are from Homs Governorate. This is a worrying indicator of the escalating violations and deaths in detention centers.
