Call to draft social contract to restore trust between state, people in Syria

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Tabqa Canton held a public meeting today, during which the political situation was explained, with an emphasis on the administration’s commitment to dialogue and its adherence to decentralization as a guarantee for the rights of the people of NE Syria.

The meeting was attended by members of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Tabqa and its bodies, as well as representatives of the Internal Security Forces, military units, local councils, and hundreds of residents, at the Culture and Arts Center in the heart of Tabqa city.

The meeting began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a welcome from Hamid Al-Faraj, Co-Chair of the Executive Council in Tabqa, who stressed the importance of such meetings in keeping residents informed about political developments and the overall situation.

Hassan Kojer then presented a detailed briefing on the latest political developments, particularly regarding the ongoing dialogue between the Autonomous Administration of NE Syria and the Syrian transitional government.

Kojer noted that Syria is undergoing a sensitive and historic phase after years of war and conflicts, with the people being the primary victims. He explained that the current crises are linked to external agendas aiming to divide Syria by undermining trust among Syrians. He stressed the need to draft a new social contract that restores trust between the state and the people, founded on inclusive national dialogue.

He affirmed that the Autonomous Administration of NE Syria supports Syria’s unity and the protection of the rights of all Syrians, who have made sacrifices during the years of the revolution, while maintaining its commitment to dialogue with the transitional government and its moral obligation to safeguard the rights of the people in NE Syria, protecting the gains achieved through their sacrifices and the thousands of martyrs they have given.

Kojer highlighted that the current phase requires further unification of efforts to consolidate these rights and ensure their inclusion in the new Syrian constitution.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Co-Vice President answered questions from attendees, who in turn reaffirmed their commitment to the Autonomous Administration of NE Syria and its national approach, expressing confidence that this path will lead the region and its people to safety.
