Forming committee to enhance women's role; participation in decision-making positions
The Women's Office of the Syrian Democratic Council and the Zenobia Women's Gathering in Raqqa Canton formed a committee aimed at enhancing the role of women in various areas of life and expanding their participation in decision-making positions.
The Women's Office of the Syrian Democratic Council, in cooperation with the Zenobia Women's Gathering, organized an expanded meeting at the Syrian Democratic Council building in Raqqa. The meeting aimed to enhance the role of women in various areas of life, expand their participation in decision-making positions, and develop a shared vision that would contribute to shaping a prosperous future.
The meeting was attended by many activists and women's rights activists. The political situation was read and discussed by Fatima Muhammad, administrator of the Women's Office of the Syrian Democratic Council. She said, "The Syrian Democratic Council, alongside the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces, plays a pivotal role that represents the balance of power in the Syrian situation, by preventing the country from slipping into renewed chaos and returning to the dark tunnel."
She emphasized that "these realities compel the Syrian Democratic Council, as the bearer of a national democratic project, to assume its pivotal political, cultural, and legal role with the aim of achieving a comprehensive democratization process for all Syrian state institutions. She explained that this path constitutes an essential step toward drafting a new constitution that lays the solid foundations for building a democratic, pluralistic, and decentralized Syria."
Meanwhile, the attendees exchanged views and perspectives on the challenges facing women in Raqqa and Tabqa, and ways to empower them politically, economically, and socially. The communities also discussed the importance of building effective coordination mechanisms among women's organizations to support women's issues and enhance their status in society.
This meeting is part of a series of meetings and activities organized by the Women's Office and the Zenobia Women's Gathering, affirming their shared commitment to the necessity of unifying women's efforts and collective action to create an environment that ensures real women's participation in Syria as a whole.
The meeting concluded with the formation of a committee, representing a practical step toward achieving women's effective participation in decision-making and achieving a better future for Syrian women.
