Fires break out in Hama countryside, occupied Afrin

Large fires have broken out in the forested areas of Tahounyt al-Halawah village in western Hama countryside and in the village of Arnada, located in the occupied city of Afrin.

On Wednesday evening, a massive fire erupted in the forests near Tahounyt al-Halawah, a village near the city of al-Suqaylabiyah in western Hama. The flames quickly spread to agricultural lands in the area.

Firefighting teams faced several challenges in containing the blaze, including strong winds that intensified the spread of the fire and rugged terrain that hindered access. Additionally, unexploded ordnance in the area detonated due to the fire, further complicating efforts to extinguish it.

The fire forced several residents of the village to flee due to the thick smoke.

In a related incident, another fire broke out yesterday in the forests of Arnada village, located in Sheikh Hadid district of the occupied city of Afrin. The flames consumed dozens of hectares of agricultural and forested land.

It is worth noting that recent wildfires in the forests of Latakia have burned more than 17,000 hectares of woodland, causing significant losses to the region’s plant and wildlife cover.
