The ninth and final group of displaced Afrin residents is preparing to leave early Thursday morning from the cities of Hasakah, Qamishlo and other areas in the Jazira region, heading toward Afrin city and its surrounding districts.

The return comes as part of the implementation of the January 29 agreement signed between the SDF and the interim government, which stipulates facilitating the return of displaced people to their original areas.

The eighth group departed on June 10 from the cities of Qamishlo, Derik and Girkê Legê, and included around 1,700 families who returned to Afrin.

It was preceded by seven groups that departed from the Jazira region and Kobani during March, April and May, with thousands of displaced people returning to Afrin city and its surrounding areas as part of efforts to complete the return of displaced residents to their homes.
