Family of leader Ocalan demands immediate meeting with him
The family of leader Abdullah Ocalan demanded an urgent and immediate meeting with him, and said: “The earthquake increased our fears. A strong earthquake occurred and 3 cities were affected by the earthquake, and Imrali Island is close to the epicenter of the earthquake.”
After the 5.1 magnitude earthquake, which occurred on December 4 in the Kemlik district of the Turkish city of Bursa, concerns increased about the health and life of leader Abdullah Ocalan. As many cities were affected by the earthquake, Imrali Island, which was close to the epicenter, was shaken.
Leader Abdullah Ocalan's nephew, and Member of Parliament for the People's Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP), Omar Ocalan, spoke to Mesopotamia Agency and said that their fears increased after the earthquake, and there should be an immediate meeting with Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the other prisoners in Imrali Prison.
Omar Ocalan explained that Imrali Island was also affected by the earthquake, and said: “The earthquake increased our fears, a strong earthquake occurred and 3 cities were affected by the earthquake, and Imrali Island is close to the epicenter of the earthquake.”
Omar Ocalan stated: “The lawyers submitted a meeting request. The last time Leader Abdullah Ocalan spoke to his brother for a few minutes was 33 months ago. After that, we did not receive any information. and Imrali Island is also very close to the epicenter of the earthquake. That is why we are concerned. As a family, we should meet Abdullah Ocalan and other prisoners on Imrali Island as soon as possible, this is our right. So far, neither the Ministry of Justice nor the Ministry of Interior has provided us with any information.”
Omar Ocalan pointed out that Imrali Island is located on the earthquake line, and said: “Many earthquake experts warn of the possibility of a major earthquake in Marmara. The recent earthquake wasn't a small one, 3 cities were affected by this earthquake. Therefore, it is necessary Lawyers and families meet with prisoners on Imrali Island immediately. The State and the Ministry of Justice will bear responsibility in any incident occurring on Imrali Island Prison, and the sensitivity of the Kurds should be taken into account. We will continue our work to meet leader Ocalan. We will submit our requests based on the results of the lawyers' meetings, any information that comes from there will reassure our family and our people, and we, as a family, want an immediate meeting with Mr. Abdullah Ocalan.”
