Family attacked, expelled from their land in rural Girê Spî

A family was subjected to an armed attack and expelled from their land in the countryside of Girê Spî /Tal Abyad after an armed group seized it, amidst death threats and injuries among its members.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a Kurdish family was subjected to an armed attack while trying to inquire about the status of their land and home in the village of Bir Tamah in the western countryside of Girê Spî/Tal Abyad.

According to the Observatory, the family was surprised upon arriving at their land to find that an armed group had seized it and was cultivating and profiting from it for their own benefit. When the family members demanded the return of their property, they were attacked by members of the group.

The Observatory reported that family members were beaten with rifle butts, resulting in injuries and bruises to several of them, while also being subjected to insults and slurs of a nationalist and regional nature.

It added that the gunmen expelled the family from the area at gunpoint and threatened them with death, preventing them from ever approaching their land or property again.
