Extended truce amid siege, humanitarian crisis

No violations of the extended truce between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Interim Government have been recorded since the agreement was announced on Saturday to extend the ceasefire for an additional fifteen days through international mediation, coinciding with the continuation of dialogue between the two sides.

Despite the truce, the city of Kobane remains under a suffocating siege, with residents suffering from severe shortages of basic necessities such as bread, medicine, and baby formula, in addition to a complete cutoff of fuel, electricity, and water, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the city.

In Jazira region, tens of thousands of displaced families from various areas, most notably Afrin, Shahba, Raqqa, Tabqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Shaddadi, are residing. Despite the Autonomous Administration's efforts to meet their needs, the sheer number exceeds its capacity, prompting relief committees to issue urgent appeals for necessary support.

Meanwhile, the people of Rojava continue to strengthen their self-defense by forming protection committees in neighborhoods, villages, towns, and cities, supporting the SDF and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), and providing them with fighters.

The influx of people from South and East Kurdistan, as well as some displaced persons in Europe, to Rojava continues in support of the resistance and to join the recently declared general mobilization.

Members of the Kurdish diaspora in Europe are continuing their activities in support of the Rojava resistance, while a group of young men and women are preparing to travel to Rojava and join the general mobilization.

Despite the extension of the ceasefire, the danger remains, as the Interim Government has not adhered to previous ceasefires. This has prompted Rojava institutions and parties to call for an escalation of the struggle and the strengthening of solidarity in Kurdistan and Europe.
