European delegation visits Kobani

Today, the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Canton received an official European delegation at its headquarters in the city of Kobani. The visit aimed to discuss political and humanitarian issues as well as developments in the Canton.

The delegation included:

Martin Schirdewan, Member of the European Parliament and Co-Chair of the Left Group in the European Parliament,

Nora Friesz Vendenburgh, Assistant to Martin Schirdewan,

Philipp Degenehard, Deputy Director of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation,

Fayik Yağızay, Representative of the Dem Party in European institutions in Strasbourg,

Dr. Sarah Glenn, Advisor to Fayik Yağızay.

The purpose of the visit was to gain insight into the realities of Kobani, its administrative system, and the security challenges it faces, as well as to explore ways to strengthen cooperation and humanitarian assistance.

The visit followed a meeting between the delegation and Hussein Othman, Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, along with the council's co-presidency deputies, at the Autonomous Administration’s headquarters in the Raqqa Canton.
