European Civil Society delegation holds talks with Department of Foreign Relations in Qamishlo

A joint delegation representing civil society organizations from Europe visited the headquarters of the Department of Foreign Relations in Qamishlo today, with the aim of gaining firsthand insight into the field, political, and administrative realities within the institutions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

The delegation included representatives from the Kurdish Confederation Coordination Council in Europe, the Kurdish Lawyers’ Association in Germany, the Kurdish Community Organization in Germany, and the Kurdistan Women’s Union in Europe. They were received by Faner Al-Kait, the Co-Chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, along with Deputy Co-Chair Gulistan Ali.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the general situation in Syria particularly in the regions of North and East Syria along with the experience of the Democratic Autonomous Administration as a pioneering model of local governance, and the leading role of women in both civil and military institutions.

The Department’s presidential body emphasized that “the Autonomous Administration project represents all Syrian components” and seeks “to achieve a comprehensive political solution that guarantees the rights of all Syrians in the new constitution.” The statement also highlighted the “continuation of dialogue with the Damascus government to implement the March 10 Agreement in a way that strengthens stability, civil peace, and the rights of all components.”

For their part, the visiting delegation explained that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Autonomous Administration’s institutions and European civil society organizations, as well as to establish communication networks and joint projects, and to work toward forming a lobbying group in support of the Autonomous Administration within the European Parliament.
