As part of a series of events organized in the NE Syria, on the occasion of the approaching International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25) of each year, the Kongra Star held a lecture in the city of Tal Hamis in Al-Jazira Canton, on the effects of violence and its repercussions, and organized a dialogue seminar in Amuda.

The lecture was delivered by Manal Mohammed, member of the Relations and Democratic Policy Agreements Committee of the K Star, at the Cultural Center in Tal Hamis, in the presence of dozens of men and women.

The lecture dealt with the problem of violence against women and its increase in recent years, as a result of wars and crises in countries. She referred to its types, explaining that violence goes beyond being physical harm to the extent of psychological, economic, social, political and other violence.

The text of the lecture proposes solutions to the problem of violence, such as raising awareness among all segments of society, changing the prevailing male mentality, achieving gender equality, and achieving social justice for women.

In this context, the religious institution in the city of Amuda organized a seminar under the slogan "Religion is for equality and not for violence, women, life, freedom", which was attended by members of the institution in the cities of Amuda and Al-Darbasiyah and members of the institutions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration.

The seminar included two themes: the first dealt with the concept of violence against women and the factors causing it, while the second dealt with the impact of some customs and traditions and the status of women in the Islamic religion.

The co-chair of the Women's Council in the city of Al-Darbasiyah, Maryam Mohammed, discussed the first theme, where she spoke about women who resisted injustice and the patriarchal mentality and were killed in order to obtain their freedom.

"Struggling women have proven their presence in society in all political, social and military fields," she stressed.

The second axis discussed by the member of the Women's Council in the religious institution in Amuda, Iman Daqouri, and talked about honoring women in Islam and protecting them within society and their rights in society.
