Eight SDF fighters laid to rest in Kobani

Residents of Kobani and its surrounding villages, along with representatives of local institutions, gathered today at the Dicle Martyrs’ Shrine to bid farewell to the bodies of SDF fighters Kevara (real name: Majid Hamada), Sedar (real name: Ali Hamid Darwish), Zagros al-Raqqa (real name: Abdullah Abdullah), Siban al-Tabqa (real name: Majid Ahmad), Rasho Braz (real name: Mustafa Mahmoud), Nesrin ), Suwar Masoum (real name: Aydin Rashid), and Ferhad Kobani (real name: Mustafa al-Hassou). The eight fighters were killed in Manbij in December 2024.

The funeral ceremony began with a minute of silence in honor of the fallen. Hassan Mosh, a member of the Kobani Martyrs’ Families Council, delivered a speech in which he referred to the hardships faced by the Kurdish people and said that the “martyrs sacrificed their lives to defend their land and homeland and for the freedom of their people.”

For her part, Aisha Afandi, a member of the Martyrs’ Families Council, said in a speech on behalf of the martyrs’ mothers that their sons’ sacrifices had helped shape a new phase. She said the resistance of residents and fighters had brought about important changes, stressing that the Kurdish people continued to assert their existence and defend their rights.

The ceremony concluded with the reading of the martyrs’ documents and their handover to their families. The bodies were then laid to rest amid ululations and chants of “Martyrs are immortal.”
