Efforts continue to provide needs for IDPs of Aleppo and Shahba

The crisis cell in the Raqqa Canton has prepared 14 schools to receive displaced people from Aleppo and the Afrin and Shahba Canton. Since this morning, they have started transporting hundreds of families to the schools and ensuring their safety.

The schools and sports halls in Raqqa and Tabqa have been equipped with essential supplies such as mattresses, blankets, drinking water, stoves, and fuel for heating.

The schools where the displaced people have been transferred in the Raqqa include: Al-Rafqa, Ali ibn Abi Talib, Okba ibn Nafi, Abu Tammam, Fatima al-Zahra, Zaki al-Arsouzi, Al-Hasan ibn al-Haytham, Al-Buhturi, Al-Batani, and Al-Khwarizmi.

In the Tabqa Canton, the schools are: Jamal Primary School, Mousa al-Hamoud, Ibn Sina, Al-Arouba, Qurtuba, Omar Al-Mukhtar, Rawdat Ajyal, Rawdat Al-Amal, Al-Safsafa Secondary School, Al-Mansoura Secondary School, Al-Hanida School, Al-Hammam Secondary School, and Alexandria Secondary School.

Popular Initiatives

The Raqqa and Tabqa Cantons have witnessed several grassroots initiatives by the local people to collect mattresses, blankets, and some furniture for the affected families. In addition, a blood donation campaign was launched at the Raqqa National Hospital.

Five doctors in Raqqa have initiated free medical check-ups for the displaced people from Aleppo and Shahba in most medical specialties.

The Health Body of North and East Syria has announced the mobilization of all health staff to meet the urgent needs of the displaced and provide essential medical support. They have started working immediately in coordination with emergency committees to ensure the necessary healthcare for everyone.

Dr. Jud Muhammad, Co-Chair of the Health Body in the Autonomous Administration of NE Syria, said in an interview with the official website of the Autonomous Administration: "The Body is making significant efforts to address health challenges, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the concerned parties to ensure the provision of healthcare services as required and according to available resources." She also called on all organizations working in the health sector to provide the necessary support.

Hassan Al-Zaiter, a member of the crisis cell and Co-Chair of the Education Body in the Raqqa region, confirmed to ANHA agency: "In response to the call of our people coming from Aleppo, the Education Body has prepared the schools to meet their needs." He added: "Since this morning, hundreds of families from Aleppo and Shahba have been received, and the Education Body in Raqqa has prepared the schools to be a safe place for the families, ensuring all their needs such as heating, food, mattresses, and blankets."

Al-Zaiter explained that 14 schools had been prepared to accommodate the displaced people who arrived in the Raqqa Canton. He mentioned that the crisis cell had instructed the preparation of 10 more schools to transfer the families once they are ready. He confirmed, "Work is still ongoing to accommodate all our displaced people."

The Democratic People's Council in the Autonomous Administration of NE Syria has urgently instructed the preparation of infrastructure to receive the displaced.

So far, thousands of displaced people have arrived in the Raqqa and Tabqa Cantons, but no accurate statistics are available as the influx continues.
