Dismissed employees protest against Transitional Govt.'s decisions

A number of employees staged a sit-in on Monday in front of the Cultural Center in Latakia, protesting their dismissal from government institutions. They described the Syrian Transitional Government's action as arbitrary.

The protesters demanded that the relevant authorities rescind the dismissal orders and reinstate them to their jobs, asserting that the move was taken without clear legal justification or prior warnings. They held banners on which "I want to return to my job, and this is not a demand, but a right," and "Give us back our salaries," were written.

The sit-inners indicated that their dismissal threatens their families' livelihoods, calling for a transparent investigation to clarify the reasons for the decision and guarantee their employment rights in accordance with applicable laws.

The sit-in comes at a time when several Syrian cities are witnessing similar protests by employees affected by dismissal orders, reflecting growing public demands for a review of the Transitional Government's policies, amid the absence of a clear official response from the relevant authorities so far.
