Deployment of transitional govt. forces in Rural Tartous

Rural Tartous has witnessed a widespread deployment of security forces affiliated with the transitional government in recent hours, along with the establishment of mobile temporary checkpoints.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported a significant spread of transitional government forces in the city of Safita in rural Tartous, accompanied by the installation of mobile temporary checkpoints, which has caused fear among civilians.

According to the SOHR, the forces have been stopping passersby, searching them, and taking their IDs without providing any explanation for these measures.

Residents expressed concern that these actions may escalate into arbitrary arrest campaigns, further heightening their sense of anxiety and insecurity in their areas.

Earlier, on November 27, the SOHR documented security tension in the cities of Baniyas, Tartous, Latakia, Jableh, and their countryside after supporters of the transitional government spread through the streets on motorcycles to create chaos, shouting sectarian slogans that led to heightened tensions in the area.
