Demonstration and road blockade in Al-Hol – Hasaka

Residents of Umm Hujayrah village, located on the road connecting al-Hol town to the Hasaka governorate center, staged a demonstration today to protest the deteriorating living conditions and lack of public services in the area.

The protesters blocked the main road passing through the village using burning tires and stones, preventing trucks carrying crude oil to refineries from passing.

A video circulated showing the protesters, led by women, chanting slogans such as, "We are hungry and thirsty... the people want to live," expressing their discontent with the high fuel prices.

The price of a liter of diesel fuel reached approximately 15,000 Syrian pounds, while the cost of filling a water tank rose to about 100,000 Syrian pounds, further exacerbating the economic burden on residents who are demanding improved living conditions.

The residents appealed to the interim government to take urgent measures to secure fuel and improve basic services such as bread, water, and electricity, emphasizing that the ongoing crisis is worsening their suffering and impacting all aspects of daily life.
