DEM delegation issues statement after meeting with Erdoğan

The DEM Party’s Imrali delegation, consisting of parliamentarians Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex in Ankara to discuss the framework law. The meeting was also attended by AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalın. The meeting lasted one and a half hours.

Following the meeting, the delegation issued a written statement, saying:

 “Today, we held a productive meeting at Beştepe with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his accompanying delegation.

We exchanged views with President Erdoğan on developments in the peace and democratic society process. During the meeting, it was emphasized that the framework law had been approved by a majority in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. The importance of the current stage of the process and the steps that need to be taken in the next phase were also discussed.

It was emphasized that opening the way to a new phase, in which democracy and the political sphere are strengthened through this law, is of great importance to all citizens and the entire country.

During the meeting, the shared determination to continue the process was once again firmly reaffirmed, and our efforts to advance the process toward peace and democracy will continue.

We thank all political parties and various segments of society that have supported the process so far through their support, proposals, warnings and criticisms.”
