Delegation of foreign activists and journalists visits YPJ

A women's delegation that included Getty Fernandez from the Peasants' Union, activists and journalists Molly Wallace, Amy Gardiner, and Heather Sweeney visited the Women's Protection Units (YPJ).
The delegation was received by member of the General Command of the Women's Protection Units, Rohlat Afrin, a member of the YPJ Military Forces Council, Samira Ahmed, a member of relations office, Lina Hussein, and the official of the Syriac Women's Protection Office, Nour Sarian.
At the beginning of the meeting, Rohlat Afrin linked the struggle of women throughout history to the struggle of the YPJ, referring to historical figures such as Clara Zetkin and Jan Dark, and said: "In the history of women's struggle, there have been many movements and struggles led by prominent women for their rights. We can't separate today's struggle at YPJ from other women around the world."

She drew attention to the tangible changes brought about by the Women's Protection Units in NE Syria, especially in the field of freedom and breaking the patriarchal mentality, which strengthened the role of women in military units.
She stressed that the Autonomous Administration project is the best solution for all of Syria after the fall of the Baath regime, pointing to the role of women in this administration, as their role is not limited to participating in the fighting only, but also contributing to build and lead society.
"The government of Ahmad al-Sharaa represents a jihadist orientation, so society cannot trust a secure future," warned Rohlat Afrin of the Women's Protection Units, citing the so-called "victory conference" in the presence of women's killers.

She stressed that the YPJ will continue their struggle to be a model for all Syrian women, and called for strengthening women's organization to confront discriminatory and oppressive policies that attempt to undermine their role in society.
At the end of the visit, the delegation presented photographs of women activists in appreciation of the struggle of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), while the YPJ presented the delegation with Koçerî kofiyat, a symbol of the units.
The delegation expressed its happiness with the visit and its gratitude for the opportunity to get acquainted with the experience of the Women's Protection Units and their struggle for the freedom of women and society.
