Following the commune conference held at al-Jazira Canton level on October 28, during which decisions were made regarding the level of work of the communes, their location, the activation of their committees, and other matters, and in accordance with the decision issued by the People's Council of North and East Syria on June 28, 2025, concerning the work of the communes and councils, a delegation from the Autonomous Administration visited the communes of Qamishlo.

The delegation, which included the Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Avin Sweid; the Co-Chair of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration, Ilham Ahmed; the Co-Chair of the Executive Council of al-Jazira Canton, Hassan Sharo; the Co-Chair of the Culture Authority, Ferial Joli; the Advisor to the Executive Council of al-Jazira Canton, Jian Derik; and the Co-Chair of the People's Council in Qamishlo, Ezzedine Kado, visited the communes of the Arbouya, Gharbi, Corniche, and Hilaliya neighborhoods in Qamishlo.

The delegation was warmly received by the members of the communes.

During the visits, the commune members raised the daily challenges they face and discussed activating and strengthening the commune committees, improving training, facilitating the return of IDPs to their homes, and addressing the political situation in North and East Syria and Syria in general.

Avin Sweid emphasized the need for the communes' administrative system and vision to be more than just administrative. She stressed the importance of the communes informing residents of their responsibilities so they can collectively protect their values and receive training on various topics.

Ilham Ahmed highlighted the importance of communes, explaining that residents can protect themselves from the authorities through these structures. She stressed the need to understand the role of communes, stating that the system they intend to implement is based on them. She said, "The commune's doors should be open to residents around the clock, bringing them together. Instead of resorting to the courts, residents should resolve their problems through a reconciliation committee."

According to information obtained from the Executive Council of al-Jazira Canton, the delegation will continue its tour to the remaining cities in the canton.
