Opponents emphasize that it does not represent the people of Jabal al-Arab but is backed by entities seeking to sow doubt and destabilize the region.

Popular circles in Swedia condemned the so-called "Jabal al-Arab Declaration," which has stirred up a wave of controversy in the media and on social media, especially after dozens of those whose names appeared on it disavowed any involvement in signing it.

Yesterday, posts circulated on social media claiming to disavow the military, security forces, and administrative structure in Swedia. These posts included the names of dozens of prominent figures in Swedia, including civil society activists, politicians, artists, and Druze personalities. However, dozens of these individuals quickly disavowed the statement and post on their own social media accounts.

According to civil society activists in Swedia, the condemnation stems from the statement's "equating of the perpetrators with the victims," its description of the bloody massacres as "events," and its denial of "the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs, the wounded, the bereaved, the missing, the kidnapped, and the displaced."

These groups called on the Higher Legal Committee in Swedia to launch an investigation into the individuals who endorsed and published the statement on their pages, as well as those who appeared alongside the signatories but failed to take a clear stance. The aim is to identify those behind this attempt to sow discord among the people of Swedia and to implicate a large number of activists and intellectuals from the city without their knowledge.

Lawyer Shahin al-Muhaythawi categorically denied any involvement in the circulating claims that he signed or that his name was included on any statement or petition under the title "The Jabal al-Arab Declaration." He stated that the malicious inclusion of his name is nothing more than a desperate and transparent attempt aimed solely at "dividing the ranks, scattering efforts, and undermining the internal unity of Jabal Bashan." He added that those behind these statements are tools for implementing foreign agendas aimed at sowing discord among the people of the same region.

Activist Samer Dannoun confirmed that the circulation of this statement with his name on the list of signatories is completely false. He clarified that he did not sign it and that what is being published in this regard is a complete and utter fabrication.

Activist Hussam Abu Khair explained that the statement's aim was to distract the public and cast doubt on several figures, either by those with ambiguous stances or by pushing them to take a clear position. He noted that the way the statement was presented and promoted was "of a high degree of apparent stupidity, leading us to wonder if there was any other objective besides distracting the public, diverting attention, and sowing doubt."

Meanwhile, journalist Majd al-Qalaani indicated that the announcement was nothing more than a deliberate act clearly intended to create "internal strife and destabilize Swedia by attacking the shrine of Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri and attacking the people of the Jabal al-Druze region." He added that it was also a dangerous attempt to create "artificial noise to advance a plan elsewhere, by diverting attention and engaging the community in a manufactured controversy."

He explained that the declaration does not represent anyone, nor does it express the will of the mountain, but only expresses "the party that orchestrated it and presented it as a tool to ignite internal conflicts, while Swedia, with its awareness and social depth, quickly uncovered the game and rejected it completely."
