Deir ez-Zor residents affirm DAA as solution to Syrian crisis

The Syrian scene has recently witnessed a notable escalation in hate speech and incitement, particularly through media outlets affiliated with the interim government and across social media platforms. This comes amid attempts by various parties and external agendas to exploit the state of chaos and instability in order to undermine social cohesion and destabilize security. In response, many residents have emphasized their awareness and their firm rejection of any attempts aimed at fueling discord or distorting the experience of the Democratic Autonomous Administration.

Adnan Al-Hamed, a resident of Hajin city in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Canton, stated that their areas had previously suffered from the repercussions of sectarianism and hate speech. However, those experiences, he said, have strengthened their current commitment to unity and their rejection of any inciting discourse seeking to divide Syrians.

Al-Hamed added that “despite security challenges and sabotage attempts, our areas have remained resilient in the face of terrorism, thanks to the solidarity of their people and the high level of community awareness.” He noted that societal unity and cohesion have played a major role in thwarting attempts to sow discord and division.

He also highlighted the significant role continuously played by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in protecting the region and safeguarding civilians’ security, through ongoing sacrifices in confronting terrorism.

Al-Hamed stressed that inciting rhetoric, threats, and smear campaigns adopted by some media outlets, the interim government, and Turkish media do not serve the interests of the Syrian people. Rather, he said, they contribute to increased tension and division, calling for the adoption of responsible discourse that focuses on freedom, equality, and the promotion of civil peace.

For his part, Salem Al-Abdullah from the town of Abu Al-Khater in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Canton stated that the current phase requires strengthening awareness among children and youth about the dangers of schemes targeting the social fabric. He emphasized the importance of their role in protecting their areas and cooperating with the Syrian Democratic Forces, which he described as having played a pivotal role in protecting civilians, liberating the region from terrorism, and consolidating security and stability.

Al-Abdullah pointed out that continuing initiatives that promote stability and coexistence among all components has become an urgent necessity. He noted that the Democratic Autonomous Administration project has achieved tangible successes, which can be observed through real-life experiences demonstrating its ability to provide a participatory model of governance, qualifying it to serve as a genuine foundation for the future of Syria at both the living and security levels.

Meanwhile, Marwa Al-Muhand from the city of Hajin stressed that the unity of peoples and the solidarity of all components constitute the true guarantee for protecting Syrian society from divisions. She considered diversity not a factor of weakness, but rather a source of strength when built on mutual respect and partnership.

She affirmed her support for the path of stability and reconstruction, expressing her readiness to actively participate in rebuilding Syrian society on just democratic foundations that guarantee the rights of all components and establish a unified Syria based on coexistence, partnership, and justice.

Al-Muhand added that the Autonomous Administration model has proven its ability to overcome numerous crises by restoring security and consolidating the foundations of coexistence, emphasizing that dialogue must be the primary means of resolving disputes away from incitement and division.
