Deir-ez-Zor notables confirm importance of implementing meeting decisions

On October 22, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council held a conference to address the demands of the people of Deir ez-Zor, with wide participation from segments of Deir ez-Zor society, including intellectuals, tribal and clan notables, and jurists.

Regarding the importance of the conference, its outcomes, and its evaluation, ANHAîs  agency monitored the opinions of a number of sheikhs and notables of the Deir ez-Zor clans. Reda Al-Ali, one of the notables of the Al-Izbah region in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, confirmed that: “The conference held in Deir ez-Zor was a successful and constructive conference, aimed at participation, and during it discussions plans and conspiracies targeting the region and seeking to sow discord among the tribes of the region.”

Reda Al-Ali explained that plans had been drawn up to confront external plans and build a democratic society based on coexistence and brotherhood of peoples among all components. He said: “The meeting aims to improve the service and economic reality and the reality of the region in general, and aims to activate true partnership and strengthen the security and military forces.”

Al-Ali described the conference’s outcomes as good and constructive, and added: “We hope to quickly implement these outcomes, activate them in all service, health, agricultural, and security aspects, preserve the privacy of women and youth, and activate their role in society.”

In his turn, one of the notables of the central Deir ez-Zor countryside, Mohammad al-Sheikh, said: “The conference held in Deir ez-Zor was successful and was held to meet the people’s needs to discuss the difficulties and problems facing the region.”

The Sheikh called for implementing and activating the conference outcomes on the ground to reap the fruits of the conference and improve the service, economic and security reality in particular. He stressed the need to restructure the Military Council in Deir ez-Zor to support security in the region in general, and called for the Legislative Council to be activated urgently.

Shiekh of Al-Basira clan Turki Al-Zahir confirmed that the outcomes of the conference were clear to all the people of Deir ez-Zor in general, and all the outcomes are of interest to the people and serve their interests in general. He said: “One of the most important outcomes is the restructuring of the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council and its support, and we, the elders of the tribes of Deir ez-Zor, affirm our full support.” "We hope that they will be fully implemented."

Al-Zahir confirmed: “We, the notables and people of Deir ez-Zor, support change and the activation of the Legislative Council and oversight to monitor the work of all institutions and committees affiliated with the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council.”

The conference on Enhancement Security and Stability towards developing and consolidating participation in Deir ez-Zor resulted in a number of decisions, most notably the restructuring of the local, legislative, executive and municipal councils and the reorganization of the Internal Security Forces and the Deir ez-Zor Military Council, within a maximum period of 6 months.

Before holding the conference to enhance security and stability, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria held a series of mass meetings with the people of Deir ez-Zor, during which it listened to the opinions of the people with the aim of developing civil administration in Deir ez-Zor and enhancing security in the region.
