A statement issued today by the DAA  marks the sixth anniversary of the liberation of Baghouz, the last stronghold of ISIS mercenaries in Syria, which was liberated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with the support of the International Coalition.

"This historic victory, achieved by the sons and daughters of our great people, marked the liberation of Syrian territory from an organization that had been unyielding to the armies and nations that tried to defeat it. On this occasion, we must first remember our martyrs who sacrificed everything for Syria and the world to enjoy safety and freedom. Their sacrifices have laid the foundation for the strengthening of inter-communal solidarity, coexistence, and civil peace.

On this day, six years ago, the region and the world entered a new phase of action and struggle against this organization that threatens the security and stability of both the region and the world. While our heroic forces, represented by the Syrian Democratic Forces, successfully defeated ISIS geographically, remnants of this group continue to attempt to reorganize, exploiting the unstable conditions that occasionally plague the region to regroup and launch terrorist attacks.

From this standpoint, we must strengthen our unity and solidarity to prevent the terrorist cells from reorganizing, as they pose a threat to our homeland, Syria. This also requires cooperation and coordination with international forces, particularly the International Coalition.

While we celebrate this great occasion with our people and the world, we reaffirm that the war against this organization, both militarily and ideologically, has not yet ended. We must continue to dedicate every effort and resource to prevent this terrorism from reorganizing. We are committed to this ongoing mission.

Once again, we honor the struggle, resistance, and sacrifices of our people, so that the world may enjoy tranquility and stability. We also salute our heroes in the Syrian Democratic Forces, congratulate them on this occasion, and reaffirm our commitment to achieving the hopes and aspirations of our martyrs and people in building a democratic, unified, and decentralized Syria."
