Today, the Democratic Autonomous Administration in the Euphrates Canton issued a statement in which it remembered the martyrs of the Halabja massacre.

The statement stressed: “Thirty-six years have passed since the Halabja massacre, and the dangers of using chemical weapons against the Kurdish people continue under the sight of the international community, as the Turkish state used the same gas and the same internationally prohibited crime against our people in occupied Afrin. It also uses these weapons in its attacks against the Guerrilla forces in northern Kurdistan.

The statement explained: “We in the Democratic Autonomous Administration on the occasion of the thirty-sixth anniversary of the Halabja massacre, remember its martyrs and all the martyrs of Kurdistan and the martyrs of the struggle on the path to freedom and peace, and we call on the international forces and friendly countries to assume their duties in protecting our people.

We affirm and still believe in the just laws, values and morals that held those involved in the Halabja massacre accountable, and we hope that the world will move to prosecute those involved in the massacres of Afrin and all Syrian regions, led by Erdogan’s government.”
