The Media Office of the Foreign Relations Department of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria published that a Brazilian delegation, headed by the Acting Ambassador of Brazil in Damascus, João Zanini, along with accompanying members, visited the Foreign Relations Department headquarters on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

The delegation was received by the co-chairman of the Foreign Relations Department, Fanar al-Ka’it, the Vice head Gulistan Ali, Administrative Board member Khalid Ibrahim, and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) representative Lana Hussein.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the general situation in Syria, negotiations with the transitional government, the parliamentary elections, as well as the security and humanitarian situation in the region.

They confirmed that "the solution in Syria lies in an inclusive political process that guarantees the participation of all components, the implementation of the March 10 agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the transitional government, rejecting any elections imposed with a unilateral mentality and lack of real representation," and called on the international community and the United Nations not to recognize such elections. They also emphasized the importance of international support, including from Brazil, to enhance peace and combat terrorism.

On his part, the Brazilian delegation expressed deep gratitude for the coordination and support provided by the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces, affirming their country's appreciation for the care that ensured the safety and health of its citizens until their return to Brazil.

At the conclusion of the visit, a woman and a child from families of ISIS militants were handed over to the Federative Republic of Brazil under an official document signed by both sides, within the framework of humanitarian cooperation.
