DAA condemns the Damascus bombing

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria condemned the bombing that was conducted against Mar Elias Church in Dweila neighborhood in Damascus.

The Autonomous Administration expressed its condolences and said that the targeting of places of worship and civilians' gathering spots is one of the most despicable forms of terrorism and once again reveals the dark mentality aimed at targeting civil peace and Syrian society's rich texture. The Autonomous Administration's statement read:

"The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria condemns in strongest terms the terrorist cowardly attack on Mar Elias Church in Dweila neighborhood of the capital, Damascus, which resulted in innocent civilian martyrs. We are in highest regard with this criminal act and send our deep sympathy and sincerest condolences to the families of the martyrs. We pray for the injured to get speedy recovery.".

Attacking mosques and civilian sites of public assembly is quite arguably one of the most abhorrent acts of terrorism and once again illustrates the shadowy state of mind that wishes to attack civil peace and Syria's multicultural heritage. These horrific crimes not only aim to induce fear and horror in the citizens, but further attempt to destroy what little coexistence and rich tapestry characterize Syria with all its religious and ethnic composition.

We, the Autonomous Administration, emphasize our dedication to cooperation with the utmost speed and urgency to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. We reaffirm our offer of cooperation in the war on terrorism. We also call for all Syrian and international parties to fulfill their duties to fight terrorism, hold its sponsors accountable, and work towards a safe, secure, and sustainable Syria. We once more extend our sympathy to the families of the victims and extend our utmost solidarity with our people in Damascus following this sad incident.
