CPT: Nearly 200 Iran-linked attacks target Kurdistan Region

A report by an American organization revealed that the Kurdistan Region in Southern Kurdistan was subjected to nearly 200 attacks carried out by Iran and armed groups affiliated with it, resulting in the killing and injury of about 25 people, amid the ongoing war being waged by the United States and Israel against Iran.

The American organization CPT announced that Iran and armed groups linked to it carried out 196 attacks on the Kurdistan Region, resulting in about 25 people killed and injured.

According to statistics released by the organization regarding attacks targeting the region, the attacks were distributed across the provinces as follows:

162 attacks in Erbil province

26 attacks in Sulaymaniyah province

5 attacks in Duhok province

3 attacks in Halabja province

The statistics indicated that 43 attacks targeted the headquarters of Kurdish parties from East Kurdistan, while 58 attacks targeted the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, military bases, and facilities linked to the U.S. government, according to what was published by Roj News Agency.

Another 95 attacks targeted hotels, residential areas, Peshmerga headquarters, oil facilities, companies, and other civilian locations.

The organization also stated that within the first hour of the Iranian and allied attacks on the region, 23 people were killed and 19 others were injured, including:

15 in Erbil province

7 in Sulaymaniyah province

1 in Duhok province

According to the statistics, those killed included:

14 members of Kurdish parties opposing the Iranian regime who were targeted in their headquarters and camps inside the region

6 guards or employees of Kurdish security forces

3 civilians

The CPT team in the Kurdistan Region, which monitors the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, expressed concern about the attacks carried out by Iran and its affiliated groups against the region. The attacks targeted civilians, workplaces, residential areas, and official facilities belonging to the Kurdistan Regional Government.

The organization called on all parties involved in the war to stop the violence to protect civilian lives, stressing that it will continue monitoring the impact of these attacks on civilians and documenting violations committed in the Kurdistan Region
