Held under the slogan “Together for diversity that strengthens our unity, and partnership that builds our future,” the conference brings together more than 400 participants representing the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, as well as political, military, and security institutions, and representatives of the region’s various components.

Among the attendees are representatives of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Syrian Democratic Council, political parties, women’s organizations, Bishop of al-Jazira and the Euphrates Mar Maurice Amsih, the Syriac Union, the Democratic Society Movement, the Kurdish National Council, and Sheikh Murshid al-Khaznawi.

Also present are the Co-Chairs of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Evin Swed and Hussein Othman, along with the Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, Laila Qarahman.

Throughout the conference, speeches will be delivered on behalf of North and East Syria’s political and military institutions, including the Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Syrian Democratic Council, and the Women’s Council of North and East Syria, as well as addresses from the region’s various communities.

The conference will also feature messages from the Druze and Alawite communities to the people of North and East Syria.

Following this, the conference document will be read, interventions and proposals will be presented, and finally, the closing statement will be issued.

Ilham Ahmed: Diversity is a source of strength

The opening speech was delivered by Ilham Ahmed, Co-Chair of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. She stressed that this conference is being held at a pivotal and decisive moment in Syria’s history, one that requires everyone to assume deep political and moral responsibility toward the country’s evolving circumstances.

She explained that the conference is a living expression of the will of the peoples who have chosen to confront war through unity, to respond to marginalization through organization, and to build a democratic model based on mutual recognition, genuine partnership, and social justice.

Ilham Ahmed emphasized that the components of North and East Syria (Kurds, Arabs, Syriac Assyrians, Armenians, Turkmens, Chechens, Circassians, Muslims, Christians, and Yazidis) have proven that diversity is not a threat but a source of strength. True protection, she said, does not come from external powers but from a shared will to build just and lasting peace. She warned that the continuation of a one-sided mentality in governance would only deepen the crises.

She described the conference as a political and popular entitlement aimed at helping shape the contours of a new Syrian future; one founded on genuine partnership, mutual recognition, fair representation, true citizenship, pluralism, and democratic decentralization as a guarantee for the country’s unity and stability.

Ilham Ahmed noted that the participation of the region’s representatives in this conference reflects the very essence of the political and constitutional process. “A new Syria cannot be built without recognizing the rights of every component and without ensuring their active participation in shaping the future,” she stated.

She affirmed that the conference is a foundational step in a broader process, one driven by the will of the people and aimed at redefining the Syrian state on just principles ; equality in citizenship, an inclusive national identity, accountable governance, and a fair balance of rights and responsibilities.

Ilham Ahmed concluded her speech by expressing her hope that this conference will be a significant step toward a new Syria that serves all its citizens without discrimination, and restores the moral meaning of politics after a long era of domination and denial.
