Complaints over deteriorating educational services, denial of govt. claims regarding sector

Complaints have escalated among residents and educational staff in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor regarding the decline in education services. At the same time, local activists have refuted reports broadcast by media outlets affiliated with Syria’s interim government claiming that campaigns were carried out to renovate schools, distribute textbooks, and provide teachers with their monthly salaries.

Several activists appeared in video clips filmed inside school courtyards, emphasizing that what is shown in official media does not reflect the reality on the ground. One activist, standing before dozens of children, stated that no renovation or maintenance work had been conducted in the schools, that students had not received their textbooks, and that teachers’ salaries had yet to be paid.

The activist further asserted that reports aired by the “Syrian News Channel” lack accuracy, arguing that they present a picture entirely different from the actual conditions in schools, which are suffering from shortages in basic services. He criticized what he described as the neglect of the hardships faced by students and teachers.

These complaints come amid difficult service conditions in areas of Raqqa and the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, where residents speak of a decline in the overall level of public services.
