Collecting signatures in Raqqa for leader Ocalan freedom

In a few days, the collection of signatures in Raqqa for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan will end, scheduled for the end of this March, as part of the signature collection campaign launched by the Popular Initiative for the North and East Syria Region on February 9, and the petition will be presented with the numbers of signatories to the Council of the European Union.

The supervisor of the committees charged with collecting signatures in Raqqa Canton, Abdul Salam Hamsourk, told ANHA agency: “We launched a campaign to collect signatures in order to demand the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan and to check on his health condition, who has been absent for more than 3 years.”

Hamsourk stated, "What the leader is exposed to in Imrali prison is a clear violation of human rights and the international community must take action. And we the people of NE Syria, will work by all means to achieve the physical freedom of the leader Abdullah Ocalan."

The head of the Women’s Body in the Executive Council of Raqqa Canton, Amal Al-Jassem, who participated in the campaign within the committees, said about collecting signatures: “During our tours in the neighborhoods, we noticed a clear demand from the people to demand ending the isolation of the leader and achieving his physical freedom from all segments of society.”

The collection of signatures is still continuing in Raqqa Canton and its countryside, and collection operations are taking place today in the Mafraq al-Jazra neighborhood on the western edge of Raqqa city.
