Co-Chair of PYD in Qamishlo martyred as Turkish shelling

In a statement to the public, the PYD mourned her loss and expressed profound sorrow, highlighting her unwavering dedication:

“We, the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), solemnly mourn our comrade and struggler, Menija Hajo Heidar, who rose to martyrdom alongside three comrades during a sit-in aimed at supporting our forces at Tishrin Dam.

Comrade Menija was a symbol of resilience and sacrifice, dedicating her life with a deep sense of responsibility and unshakable belief in her cause as a woman and a member of her people’s movement for freedom and equality. She epitomized tireless effort and ceaseless resistance, leaving no stone unturned in serving her people and their struggle until her final moments.

We in the General Council of the PYD strongly condemn, in the harshest terms, these heinous massacres perpetrated by the Turkish state against the peoples of North and East Syria. We call on the international community and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities and put an end to this blatant aggression on our people.

We extend our deepest condolences to ourselves, the families of the martyrs, and all those who sacrificed their lives at Tishrin Dam. We also wish a swift recovery to the wounded. Let it be known that their pure blood will continue to illuminate the path of freedom for us all.

We reaffirm our commitment to our people and our noble martyrs to persist in the struggle and resistance until the achievement of our goals for freedom, justice, and peace."
