The Archdiocese of Homs, Hama, Tartous, and their dependencies for the Syriac Orthodox Church stated that the community’s cemetery in the town of Zaidal, in the countryside of Homs, was targeted by trespassing and acts of vandalism and destruction. The statement described the incident as "contrary to moral and human values and an affront to the dignity of the deceased."

The statement condemned this act, emphasizing the necessity of respecting sacred sites and cemeteries as places with religious and human sanctity.

A video circulating on social media platforms shows vandalism, including the destruction of crosses and Christian religious symbols in the cemetery, sparking outrage among Syrians.
